Week 2 in the CCM: Wants music and soda!
Whatsup Mom!!!
This week went by 1000x faster than
the first luckily. It's so weird how true the phrase "Days feel like
weeks and weeks feel like days" actually is hahaha. Still have plenty of
food and living. I don't know if you or Shulamith has sent me 2
packages, but one thing they don't have at the store is soda and getting
that Dr. Pepper was one of the greatest things I've gotten here; so if
you want to send me more of those that would be fantastic hahahaha.
The weather here is FANTASTIC! It's raining like pretty much every day and it's not hot... I love it.
None
of my district went to choir practice so we all kind of made it. We
only play it on P day and Sunday though because we're too busy with
spanish stuff every other day.
Also! I don't
have a ton of music on my mp3 player and I'm pretty sure you can send me
mp3 files through an email and I should be able to transfer them, so if
you have any extra time I'd love for you to send me some music. I love
instrumental and pretty hymns a ton. Anything is good though, I just
only have around 50 songs so.
It feels so weird
that everyone is living their regular lives and I'm down here in Mexico
hahaha. I definitely feel homesick whenever I think about not being
home for 102 weeks so I try not to think about it too much hahaha.
We
didn't go to the temple today. It's a really weird feeling because we
all really want to go to the temple, but we also really want to have a
full P day to ourselves hahaha. I heard they have cool ties there so I'm
probably going to buy one when we go. Also, I've been told we have to
wear the headphones to listen to the endowment and stuff in English
because they want us to actually understand what's going on. This is
also true with devotionals we have and priesthood meeting and stuff like
that. They've explained several times that we're not here to learn
spanish and that we're here to learn to invite others to come unto
Christ and the Spirit will direct what we say.
Thanks so much for everything mom!! I miss you and everyone so much!
Elder Erichsen :)
...and then the group email
So this week was extremely uneventful hahaha. Every day we kind of do
the exact same thing. We wake up at a ridiculously early time (6:30), go
to breakfast, go to class, lunch, gym, class, dinner, mini devotional,
sleep. I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a preparation day every week I
would go insane.
Nothing crazy happened this week, so I'll try to just share some funny stories haha.
So
for Sacrament meeting every Sunday, we have 6 speakers selected at
random from our zone to give a talk in Spanish for 5 minutes. So
basically you have to write a talk every week. Of course everyone in my
district wrote ours Saturday night, except Elder Robinson. He didn't
think he was gonna get called, so he didn't prepare anything and he
doesn't know too much Spanish either. Low and behold the first speaker
of the meeting was Elder R. and he flipped out. It was one of the
funniest and greatest talks I've ever witnessed haha. I love him to
death.
We're given 100 pesos every week (about
6$) to spend on things we need like laundry detergent and deodorant, but
there's also snacks and drinks we can buy. Of course there's no
caffeinated beverages to buy, but there is a lot of juice. I've gotten
this sick fresa drink every day this week and I think I'm addicted
hahaa. They're so good.
It's weird to think
that I won't be home for another 102 weeks so I try not to think about
it too much, but I definitely miss all my friends and a lot of other
things like movies and Taco Bell. But I know I'm doing the right thing
and it'll go by fast :). Love y'all!
