Hey Mom!
I don't think
you quite understand Mom haha. When it rains here, it RAINS. And
people's houses struggle, let alone their clothes lol. Most people walk
to church and a lot of people don't have a car so, that's why. Also I
wear the boots every day to everything. The only time I wear the dress
shoes is to church and during zone conferences. My goal is to be able to
wear the dress shoes after the mission haha.
Not a ton has happened this week. We mostly
contacted less active members and are trying to reactivate them as well
as baptize their families who aren't already members. There's a lot of
them! Everyone is starting to put up Christmas trees and decorations,
so that's exciting. It's also super funny because a lot of people here
play Christmas music on their speakers and they play a lot of music in
English, and they have no idea what it's saying haha.
The
Spanish is definitely coming along. It's still really hard to understand
people because their accent is so thick, but when I'm talking to
American missionaries or President Hansen or anything, it's pretty easy
haha.
I have a companionship exchange with Elder Sapp
tomorrow again haha. I'm going to Sajonia(their area) so that'll be
exciting. He just got a new companion (Elder Walker) and he's our
district leader and he's awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have any
pictures of people this week though. I totally forgot to take a bunch of
pictures this week, so sorry about that haha.
I guess
that's all I have to say. I know it's super early in the States right
now. I believe we're 4 hours ahead because of Daylight Savings? But I
might be wrong. I'm writing this at 11:17 if that helps.
THANKS SO MUCH MOM, LOVE YOU.
ELDER ERICHSEN
Hey guys!
This week was
pretty uneventful, haha. It rained a lot, and people don't really like to leave their houses or have lessons when
it's raining lol. But it wasn't super hot, so that's good.
Yeah,
honestly I don't really know what to write about lol. Last night it was about 8:45
and we were walking back to the house to end our day, but a little bit
before, this family of like 5 or 6 were sitting and said hi and invited
us to sit with them and chat. Now, this isn't super unusual for
missionaries to go sit down with random strangers and talk, but these
people were a little different haha. Like 4 of them were drinking a ton
and were definitely drunk, so we had a very interesting conversation to
say the least haha. You know that picture I sent a while back of the
tererè? That's a thing that spits out water into a cup. These people
literally put wine in that hahahahahaha. It was so funny. We set up an
appointment next Thursday and we're totally gonna baptize them.
Christmas
time is coming and, woot woot, they celebrate it here in Paraguay! I'm
starting to see more and more Christmas trees and lights every day and
it's awesome. I'm also starting to hear a lot of Christmas music. It's
funny because a lot of people will be chilling in front of their house
listening to music from a speaker and the music is in English so they
have no idea what it's saying. It's super goofy hahaha. I try to
translate it, but wow that's hard lol. I swear people here have no idea
how to speak slow hahaha. They'll say something to me super fast in Spanish and I'll say ¨"Say that again more slowly, please¨ and they'll say
the same thing just as fast or faster lol.
But yeah, sorry
for the boring letter ;/. I'll try better next week lol. Thanks so much
for all of your emails. I love reading them and replying. Have a good
week ;).
oops I totally forgot to take like any pictures this week, sawwrryyy.
Vid
1 This is from like 2 weeks ago but this is how nights are when it's
raining. A ton of thunder and lightning. Also we're eating lomito in
this video and it's like this weird breakfast burrito. It's bomb.
Pic
1 A member made this for us for lunch and I can confidently say that it
was the weirdest mixture of food I've ever had. It was a hot dog with 2
patties of some kind of meat, a weird fried egg, and rice with tuna on
top lol. It was surprisingly really good though haha.
