The Grind
Hey evvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvver yonnnnneeeeeeee!!!
This week it rained EVERY SNAPPIN DAY!!!! Well maybe not every day, but for sure 6/7 or more. It was crazy! All the streets here flood like crazy. Like I've said in previous emails, everyone is extremely lazy when it rains and it's pretty much near impossible to find success. We didn't have ONE follow-up lesson this last week, so we've gotten pretty darn good at teaching The Restoration haha. But yeah, it's been super hard to find people and teach this week. I tell my companion all the time about how much I really just want to go out and find people and teach and help people progress and eventually be baptized, but it's been forever since we've encountered someone who wants to visit with us again. We found this family 2 days ago who seemed very eager to learn more and we scheduled a follow-up appointment yesterday. We went over to their house (it was POURING) and clapped and a guy comes out and is like, "Qué dice?"(What do you want?) and we're like, "Hey! We talked to this lady yesterday and she told us to come back today to teach you guys!" and he said, "It's raining! Another day!!." So that conversation has pretty much summed up our whole week
. It's kinda funny sometimes how many excuses people come up with to NOT talk to us rather than just saying they don't want to. A few days ago we went to a SUPER fancy house that had a doorbell and a little speaker thing so they could talk to us without coming to the door. We rang it and a guy asked us who we were and we politely said representatives of Jesus Christ and his church and we wanted to talk to him. He was like, "My wife isn't home." We're like, "Bro! That's fine! Can we talk to you????" and he's like, "Oh....uh..........I don't know where the keys are to the house, but come back another day!!!" It's awesome. But something I've found that really gives me peace when sometimes I get a little frustrated or tired of people rejecting us is this little snippet from Preach My Gospel, and it's from a Jeffery R. Holland talk. It goes something like ´You might ask yourself why so many people reject the Gospel when it can give them such great blessings. But at you least you have it!´
But that's pretty much it for this week, hope you all have a bomb week! Keep the Spirit, keep dry, keep cool, positive vibes.
P1 - There's 2 suuuuuuuuuuper huge soccer teams down here in Paraguay. One is called Club Olympia. Their colors are black and white and they're probably the favorite down here (kinda like Golden State Warriors???) And then close rival is Club Cerro Porteño and their colors are blue and red.(kinda like old Cavaliers??) Most of the members that I liked in my old area were Cerro fans and almost everyone here is a Cerro fan because their stadium is here, so I decided to pick club Cerro. Me and my comp bought jerseys and they're pretty lit to say the least. I also got my name printed out on the back and of course with #22 to shoutout my girl T Swift ;).
P2 - Kinda hard to see, but this a big old drain that all the water in the roads were floading down into. Also this was right after we get rejected to like 4 follow-up lessons.
P3 - I get SUUUUPER bored when Elder Gomes is talking to his family and emailing, so I bring my pillow every week now to NAP.
