Uneventful week
Hey yaaaaaaaaaaa'llll,
This week was kinda uneventful, so super sorry if this email is like, super boring
.
Me and Elder Quinde have just been livin´ it up here in Obrero. Our mission president made it a goal that we talk to 154 people every week as a companionship and so we've really just been finding people to teach this week. But now that we have Sajonia in our area, it's been super hard to have time to find people. There's a girl we're teaching over there named Carmen and it takes like 3 hours in total to take a bus there, teach, and come back. But right now she has a baptism date for the 27th, so pray that that goes through.
Next week is the semana santa, which means like holy week. It's basically Easter on steroids. So instead of just celebrating the Resurrection on Sunday, people here celebrate a different part of Jesus Christ every day of the week. I forgot what each day represents, but basically everyone just gets super drunk and parties the whole week
. We've tried to plan visits with the people we're teaching and they're all like "No no no we can't do this week, it's SEMANA SANTA." So I don't know WHAT we're gonna do. But I'm sure it'll be great.
Our area is really close to the Paraguayan River (River between Paraguay and A
rgentina) and sometimes throughout the year it just floods like crazy. So a lot people that live close to the river have been moving up to go live more uphill, which happens to be right by the church. Some member told us that like 35 years ago, the river flooded like CRAZY and there were a TON of people who moved up and the missionaries baptized over 100 people that year. But they all eventually moved back down to near the river and not one of them are active now. So it's kinda hard because we want to talk to the people and teach them, but we don't want them to move back and go inactive, cuz that's dumb.
We had divisions on Friday and I got to go back to my old area Republicano with my man Elder Gutierrez so that was fun. Obviously we worked while we were there, but it was a nice little break :). Divisions are always nice when you go to another area because you basically just follow the person you're with and teach.
But that's all for today. "And see that all these things are done in wisdom and aorder; for it is not requisite that a man should run bfaster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order." Mosiah 4:27
