Halfway There, Livin' on a Prayer
Wow guys has it really been a year already?? Time flies by like crraaaazzyyyyy. I legit cannot believe that I have been here for 363 days. Like do you guys know how long that is?? It's a LONG TIME. I feel like I just got here and that I was born here at the same time.
As you can see from that first picture, we out here boolin' it up and we BAPTIZED! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! So that was pretty exciting. We had the best baptism service planned and invited so many people with different assignments (prayers, talks) and legit NOBODY CAME. The only member family that went was one of the counselors of the branch presidency, so me and my companion had to basically do everything
. But besides that it was incredible. I really feel like Lujan and her family are gonna stay active in the church. We're gonna keep visiting them regularly going over the lessons again.
I know I've talked about this like every email, but oooooohhh my goodness it is so funny teaching Lujan. We went over the interview questions with her and one of the questions is 'have you ever committed a serious crime?' and she said, 'Yes! One time I killed a spider...' . We had to explain about how the repentance process can be long and difficult, but there's always a way through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Luckily she was ready for her baptism on Saturday. But I really will miss teaching them.
Ok so I totally forgot to take a picture, but GUYS! MY ARMS HAVE LITERALLY GOTTEN BIGGER SINCE I'VE STARTED DOING INSANITY. Like me and Elder Prado spent a whole companionship study just looking at our muscles. It's awesome guys. The church is true.
So I thought it would be good to have a little testimony paragraph for hitting one year. I've learned SO much from being here in Paraguay teaching the Gospel every day. I remember the night right before I left....I was FREAKING OUT BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY FOR LITERALLY 2 YEARS. I never read the Book of Mormon, never prayed... or really did any of the things I definitely should have been doing to prepare for a mission. I didn't really realize this until I arrived at the Mexico MTC and noticed that everyone was constantly sharing their testimonies about the church and the Book of Mormon and I was like "Oh snap.....this isn't good."
. I immediately began to read the Book of Mormon and gained a testimony and have read every day since. I now have a connection with my Heavenly Father from praying every day as well. I know that the church is true. We can feel clean and happy through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I LOVE THE GOSPEL GUYS! IT'S AWESOME!
But that's pretty much all for this week. I will sà o sà be burning a shirt on Wednesday, so I'll have pics for that next week. We'll have interviews this Friday so I'll probably see where I'm going, so some good stuff is happening. I hope you all have a fantastic week, I'll see ya'll in a year
.
Elder Erichsen :D
p1 - LUJAN'S BAPTISM WOOT WOOT
p2 - I FOUND BROWNIE MIX! They're pretty darn amazing
p3 - Ok so I will definitely say that short sleeved white shirts are super lame, BUT, oh my goodness. I had this member cut a bunch of my shirts to make them short-sleeved and wow it has changed my life. Like now I'm walking down the street and I'm shivering, even though it's 100 degrees. Super nice.
