No One Likes Us

Wow we're already on week 80, that's pretty crazy. That means there's only like 20 weeks left....But idk who's counting.
HEEEEEEYY GGGUUUUUYYYYSSSSS. This week was just pretty fantasterific here in the Floresta. It was also suuuuuupeerrrrr hooootttttt. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna look like my companion and this end of this change.
We had a special conference with a general authority on Wednesday and that was super awesome. I think his name was Elder Mckay, but I'm pretty bad at names. But it was a great conference. He talked a lot about how we need to teach by the Spirit, and if we don't teach by the spirit, we're not teaching in the way of God. Like, there's no reason to teach unless you're teaching by the spirit. He also talked about how we need to use the Book of Mormon when we teach to ACTUALLY convert people. Nobody can be converted in the Gospel until they have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Good stuff.
If you're reading the title of this email you can probably see that besides that conference, this week was not the greatest 😂. We got rejected A LOT OF TIMES. Like, I'm used to an average of like 80% of people not wanting to talk to us, but this week it was more like a fat 98%. And a lot of the times people are pretty nice about it. They give you the whole 'I really don't wanna talk to you and I'm not interested, but I don't wanna say no' treatment. For example:
Elders: "Hola hermana! How are you today??"
Hermana: "Soy católica"
-hermana walks away
Oh sorry, that's how the MAJORITY of our contacts were THIS week. What I meant to say, was:
Elders: "Hola hermana! How are you?
Hermana:"Very good, how are you?"
Elders: "We're doing great. What is your name?"
Hermana: "Veronica. And you?"
Elders: "I'm Elder Erichsen and this is my companion Elder Rodrigues. We're passing by today to offer a blessing of health and comfort for the family. Is that ok?
Hermana: "Yes! That would be great."
Elders: "Alright, is it ok if we come in and offer it?"
Hermana: Oh... well actually right now we're a little busy. We're actually JUST getting ready to leave.
(Elders realize that when they started talking to her she was in her chair doing absolutely NOTHING.)
Elders: "Hermana, I know that this blessing will help you if you just give us 2 minutes."
Hermana: "Yeah, you can come back another day, just not right now."
Elders: "Ok, what day can we come back?"
Hermana: "Anyday. We're always home."
Elders: "Ok, we'll be stopping by this Wednesday at 3, would that be ok?"
Hermana: "Well actually I don't know if we'll be home then. I don't want to commit to anything. Sometimes we leave, sometimes we stay. I never know. Just if you ever see us here and you can pass by."
Elders: "Ok vamos a estar pasando, pero muchas gracias!"

But this week it was mostly just fast "We're busy." or "We're not interested" and walk aways. But hey, I guess we'll keep trying.
Fun story: We went and talked this this 60 year old guy at his house and he said that he had talked to missionaries a LONG time ago. He had a super old Book of Mormon. He said how we wanted to go to church. Now, most 60 year old slightly drunk men have told me this before, but guess what? HE ACTUALLY WENT YESTERDAY. We're visiting him tomorrow. He was super cool. His name is Carlos.
BUT HEY THAT'S IT FOR THIS WEEK. I HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEK! KEEP THE SPIRIT! READ THE BOOK OF MORMON. DON'T BE LAME. LOVE YA'LLLLLL

ELDER ERICHSEN

p1 - Found my man Elder Peralta. Probably my favorite Peruvian.
p2 - This is Zach Funk. Yes. THE FUNK is in my mission. He graduated with me at hillcrest. He was also in choir with me. We both sang tenor! Super weird right?? I guess I should say ELDER Funk.
p3 - We did this service for some members and they got us MCDONALDS!!! It was incredible.
p4 - These are our groceries for this week.

Heaven help this kid's English, deteriorating right before my eyes. You'd think he was learning Spanish or something.
