I'm so proud of Seth for caring about apostrophe usage!
Hey Mom!!!
So yeah we don{t have a ton of time to email and I have
like 25 unread messages right now because I didn{t read any last week
haha. Also yes it is really hard to type on this keyboard. I don{t know
how to do an apostraphe so we{re doing { for now haha. I{ll answer all
your questions in this email and talk more about my experience here in
the group email if thats ok haha.
Yes! So I{m serving in the
Republicano! It{s part of the city (I think!). It{s actually pretty
similar to the United States haha. Lots of restaruants and stuff.
Everyone here is so friendly!!! We{ll go to a random house and get to
know someone and they{ll invite us into their house and we{ll talk and
then share a message about the gospel. It{s awesome!! I{ve also had so
much food here!! I would say food should be the last of your worries.
Elder Guerrero (My companion) told me he{s gained a ton of weight since
the beginning of his mission hahaha. So far my favorite food has been
asadinto(I think that{s what it{s called). It{s like a bunch of meat on a
stick, it{s so good.
My companion{s name is Elder Guerrero.
He{s from Bolivia and has been out here for 20 months. He{s amazing! The
moment I met him I felt a huge amount of love. The only thing that
sucks is that he doesn{t speak a lick of English. So I need my
dictionary every where I go haha. When we{re teaching a lesson, I just
share my testimony because that{s all I really know how to say in
Spanish. Also a lot of people speak Guarani and that language is crazy.
It{s so different. I usually kinda know what people are saying more or
less in SPanish, but when it{s in Guarani its impossible. Even Elder
Guerrero said he doesn{t understand people sometimes hahaha. But he{s
fantastic.
We live in an apartment like place. And guess what
the best part is...WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!!!! And from what I{ve
heard, every mission house has it, so no worries about that. The weather
has been super nice the past few days. It rains every other day and it
rains super hard, which I love.
The first day I got here, we
instantly started teaching some investigators we had and they{re all
awesome. I think right now we have around 15 or 20 that we{re
constistently teaching. I don{t notice a huge difference in the humidity
but it{s definitely hot sometimes haha.
We get 1.300.000
Guarani every month (Yes, we are millionaires) which is about 220$. So I
probably won{t be using too much money from my card, but it{s nice to
always hve. Tell grandma thank you!!
Alright, I need to todo
other emails but I love yuou so much!!! We were struggling to find a
place with a working computer with internet so I really dont have a ton
of time hahaha. I{ll answer any other questions you have if you ask
them, but I{ll tell you more stuff next week. There{s so much to say!!
LOVE YOU TONS
ELDER ERICHSEN
HEY GUYS!
Ok! So first of all, I have no idea how to use an
apostraphe on a Spanish keyboard, so for the time being, we{re gonna be
using { as an apostraphe haha.
OK, I{m gonna quickly wrap up the MTC and then go to Paraguay.
So
Elder Perez (An elder in my casa) got Hepatitis A, and they didn{t want
the disease to spread, so they made everyone in the same house as him
stayin their house all day. We had a little chess tournament because we
were super bored haha. And not much else happend the next few days. We
found out we were leaving Monday at 6 AM.
Ok,
now for the good stuff. On Tuesday we had a bunch of orientation stuff.
In Paraguay they use a currency called Guaranis (It{s also another
language they speak.). It{s roughly 5800 per US Dollar. They give us
1.300.000 every month(Yes, we{re millionaires). I also had to give blood
and get my fingerprints done. A little later, we met our new
companions. My companion{s name is Elder Guerrero. He{s awesome! He{s
from Bolivia and he doesn{t know any English haha. It{s pretty difficult
to communicate, but he{s super nice and a fantastic trainer.
Paraguay
is SO COOL! Everyone everywhere is so friendly. We{ll just be walking
somehwhere and most people will say hello. In Paraguay, instead of
knocking on people{s doors, you go in front of it and clap your hands.
It{s really weird but I love it! There{s also this drink called tereré(I
think that{s how you spell it.) and literally everyone drinks it. It{s
basically some herbs and stuff with water. Missionaries aren{t allowed
to drink it because of germs and stuff haha.
Me
and Elder Guerrero live in an apartment like home and they have AIR
CONDITIONING. That{s probably been the more relieving moment so far in
my mission. Most things in Paraguay are actually pretty similar to the
United States which I was not expecting. It has a ton of restaraunts and
stores everywhere. Heck, I literally had a chicken parmesan at some
place a few days ago.
I don{t have a ton more
time to write, but Paraguay is fantastic! I{m loving it and I{m so
excited to share the gospel with others. Thanks for all your emails, I
love you all!
On the way to Paraguay, we had a layover in Panama and they had a CARLS JR. I was so tired of the MTC food, so it was amazing.
