Transfers!

Image
Hey guysss!!!      So we finally got the deets about transfers and unfortunately Elder Gomes is dippin out. We've had a super tough last 6 weeks. Almost nobody wanted to listen to us and it has been suuuper hot. We've visited a TON of inactive members to find out that at least half of them have moved and the other half don't want ANYTHING to do with the church. That all being said, it's been an awesome transfer. I've learned a ton about the Gospel, people, Paraguay, Spanish, heck, even Portuguese! God really answered our prayers when we were trying to get the baptism form signed from Ezequiel's dad, but showed us that he wasn't ready for baptism quite yet. I've really grown to love all of the members and the branch here. I definitely feel super ready to guide this area to a new missionary and I'm CONFIDENT that we will find some success this next transfer. I've been praying so hard the last few days that we can find at least ONE p...

The Grind

Hey evvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvver yonnnnneeeeeeee!!! This week it rained EVERY SNAPPIN DAY!!!! Well maybe not every day, but for sure 6/7 or more. It was crazy! All the streets here flood like crazy. Like I've said in previous emails, everyone is extremely lazy when it rains and it's pretty much near impossible to find success. We didn't have ONE follow-up lesson this last week, so we've gotten pretty darn good at teaching The Restoration haha. But yeah, it's been super hard to find people and teach this week. I tell my companion all the time about how much I really just want to go out and find people and teach and help people progress and eventually be baptized, but it's been forever since we've encountered someone who wants to visit with us again. We found this family 2 days ago who seemed very eager to learn more and we scheduled a follow-up appointment yesterday. We went over to their house (it was POURING) and clapped and a guy comes out and is li...

Welp.

Holaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, So, as you can read from the title, we definitely didn't have a baptism...BUT, it's all good, becaAUUUSEEE as you can see from the picture, I FOUND CUP OF NOODLESS!!!! But in all seriousness, I'm super bummed the baptism didn't follow through. Here's how it went down: On Friday we went to the church and cleaned out the baptism font which took forEVVERRR (like 3 or 4 hours) because the drainage thing doesn't work so we had to dump out water with a bucket and it takes forever. We also invited a LOT of people to the baptism and we were super excited because Obrero hasn't had a baptism in like 7 months. Then Saturday comes around and we finished filling the font with water in the morning and we were super prepared. We went over to Ezequiel's house at like 2ish just to make sure everything is all good and when we got there he was super excited for his baptism so we thought everything was good. We went over to the church...

A Week of Success!

Image
Hey guys! Don't have a ton of time to write, but WOW was this week awesome! We had so much success! One of our standard mission goals is to find 20 new people to teach every week and I've NEVER hit that goal....until this week. We found 20 new people to teach! It was awesome! We really tried talking to literally EVERYONE we see and we've found a TON of cool people.  Also, this past week we've been going to Ezequiel's Dad's house every day to try to find him. Ezequiel is the 12 year old who has all of the lessons and we just need his dad's signature to be baptized. We've been putting him in ALL of our prayers every day to find him and have him sign the baptism form. We always went at 11am because Ezequiel said he was usually home then, but that didn't work like 4 times, so we thought we would try to visit him later. We went to his house at 1:30pm and we caught him RIGHT when he was leaving. We politely asked him if he was Ezequiel´s dad and h...
